Stowe is a 200-year-old historical mountain village with the impressive Mount Mansfield, the highest peak in Vermont, within its borders. Known as the ski capital of the East Coast, it exudes a European mountain resort atmosphere and boasts a wide array of outdoor recreational activities. Skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, dogsledding, and sleighing are some of the most prominent activities. But none are more popular than cross-country skiing, as Stowe is especially famous for its hundreds of miles of well-groomed backcountry trails. There are no shortages of things to do in the warmer months either, with rock climbing, hiking, biking, fishing, dog carting, and zip lining taking center stage.
