Review:

Wailua Beach gorgeous half-mile white sand beach located along Kauai's eastern Coconut Coast at the mouth of the Wailua River, known as a popular site for tourist boat tours and hiking expeditions. Strong surf conditions are created by the lack of a barrier reef, making the beach dangerous for swimming but beloved by expert surfers, bodyboarders, and kiteboarders.

Is the beach safe for little kids? A small rock pool at the Lae Nani beachfront stretch on the beach's northern end offers safe wading conditions for young children.

What's nearby? Better conditions for water activities are offered on the Wailua River, which can be explored as part of excursions by a number of area touring companies. At the river's mouth, visitors can explore the Hauloa City of Refuge and Hikinaakala Heiau historic sites.
