Salt Pond Beach Park is the only spot in Hawai'i that is still home to natural salt ponds, located near Hanapepe on Kauai's western side. The beach, which is located within a natural wetland area, is still used by native Hawai'ians for collecting salt rock crystals that are commonly used for cooking and medicinal purposes.
