Looking for sun-soaked luxury and family-friendly fun along Florida’s Emerald Coast? Let me tell you why I loved my time in Sandestin. Tucked between Destin and Miramar Beach, this resort community has it all—sugar-white sand, championship golf, stylish shopping, and those breathtaking bay views. Whether I was lounging by the beach, exploring the Village of Baytowne Wharf, or teeing off under blue skies, Sandestin delivered a perfect blend of elegance and adventure. You’ll find something here for everyone—especially if you’re craving a bit of coastal indulgence.

Best Time to Visit

I always recommend visiting from March through October. Spring and summer are ideal for beach days, water sports, and sunset strolls along the marina. I’ve caught live music and boardwalk events during warmer months that made the evenings feel like vacation magic. But if you prefer peace and quiet, late fall and winter are great for golf, spa days, and those slower mornings with a view. You really can’t go wrong—just pick the vibe you’re after.

How to Get There

  • If you’re driving: I’ve made the drive along US-98 more than once—it’s an easy route through northwest Florida. Sandestin’s right between Destin and Miramar Beach, about 30 minutes from Panama City Beach and 45 minutes from Pensacola.
  • By Air: I usually fly into Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS), but Northwest Florida Beaches International (ECP) is another great option. Both are within an hour and super convenient for rental cars or shuttles.
  • By Shuttle: When I don’t feel like driving, I’ve taken resort shuttles straight from the airport. Most Sandestin properties have easy options to get you there hassle-free.

Where to Stay

  • Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort – This is the heart of it all. I’ve stayed in both the beachside condos and the bayside villas, and each one felt like its own mini vacation. It’s 2,400 acres of golf courses, private beach access, pools, and everything in between—you’ll never run out of things to do.
  • Hotel Effie Sandestin – When I wanted a more boutique, luxury feel, I booked a few nights here. The rooftop pool is a showstopper, the rooms are elegant, and dinner at Ovide? Easily one of my favorite meals on the Gulf Coast.
  • Beachside Condos & Vacation Rentals – If you’re traveling with family or a group of friends, renting a beachfront condo is the way to go. I loved having a full kitchen and space to spread out, plus that balcony view never gets old.
