Part of the Lake Worth Lagoon, the Snook Islands Natural Area is 118-acre wetlands preserve that includes 2 acres of oyster beds and 11 acres of mangroves.

It was primarily created to bring life back to a depleted area of the lagoon, but it's also become a popular outdoor recreation spot.

Hundreds of different species of marine animals and birds now call the area home, including American oystercatcher shorebirds, and visitors might even spot the occasional manatee. A kayak launch is available for anyone who wants to paddle out to see the oyster beds, and there's also a boardwalk running along the shore.
