Review:

Leffis Key Preserve is a beautiful natural preserve on Anna Maria Island, restoring portions of the island's integral saltwater wetland habitat and estuary system to their original glory. The gorgeous natural preserve, which is open to the public each day between sunrise and sunset, is known for its 26-foot overlook hill offering unparalleled views of the surrounding Sarasota Bay and Gulf of Mexico. Native coastal ridge and dune plants populate the hill, including dune sunflowers, green buttonwoods, sea oats and grapes, beach elders, Jamaica dogwood, and southern red cedars. More than 20,000 marsh grass plants were also repopulated along the preserve's tidal ponds, including saltwater and smooth cordgrasses. Visitors can explore the preserve's walking trails, which include 1,500 feet of boardwalks traversing through mangrove forest habitats.
