Review:

Gasparilla Island forms part of a chain of barrier islands which are separated from mainland Florida by Pine Island Sound. The Gasparilla Island State Park is particularly attractive to fishing enthusiasts due to the fact that its waters are teeming with tarpon and other prized fish. However, if you are not interested in fishing there is still plenty to do on the island including cycling, hiking, swimming, snorkeling, shelling and sand-castle building. You can bring along a picnic to enjoy at one of two picnic areas. One of the highlights of the island is the Port Boca Grande Lighthouse (built in 1890), which is open to the public most of the year with the exception of August.
