Review:
Big Tree Park is a popular visitor park located within the Spring Hammock Preserve, accessible via General Hutchinson Parkway in Longwood. The park is home to a huge collection of ancient cypress trees, including the remains of The Senator, an impressive 3,500-year-old national champion tree that was lost in a 2012 arson fire. A memorial to the tree has been developed along the park's boardwalk, which is home to a new clone of the tree planted in 2012, known as The Phoenix. Other significant trees include the 2,000-year-old tree Lady Liberty, which was donated to Seminole County in 1929 with a dedicated by President Calvin Coolidge. Nature trails and picnic tables are offered throughout the park, which is open to the public for free daily from dawn to dusk.
