History buffs can soak up the local heritage and learn all about the storied past of Shelton at the Shelton History Center. For a humble 2-dollar entrance fee, visitors can enjoy strolling through the center’s one-acre complex, which is home to historic landmarks like the 19th Century Wilson Barn, the Trap Falls Schoolhouse of 1872, and the Marks-Brownson House from 1822. Other attractions of the Shelton History Center include an exhibit called Three Centuries of Shelton, a restored 1920 mode of transportation called a carry-all, a quaint research library, museum shop, and even an herb and heirloom vegetable garden. Groups can book guided tours of the center in advance and are accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis.
