Undoubtedly one of the most visited attractions in Nassau is the Queen's Staircase. Here, visitors can take a climb up and down history as the Queen’s Staircase is an incredibly significant piece of history in the Bahamas that will transport any visitor back in time. Built in the 18th Century, the Queen’s Staircase was hand-carved out of solid limestone by about 600 pickaxe and hand-tool wielding slaves. Carving began sometime between 1793 and 1894, but it took 16 long years for the 102-foot staircase to be completed. Years later, it was renamed and dedicated to Queen Victoria who made the historic decision to abolish slavery in 1837 when she ascended to the throne.
