Tonle Sap, often called Great Lake, is a seasonally inundated large freshwater lake. It is linked by the winding Tonle Sap River, which connects the lake to the Mekong River. What visitors see when going to Tonle Sap varies depending on when they visit; the lake’s water volume, size, and length fluctuates throughout the year. While there, visitors will be able to see floating houses, many local fishermen on the water, and some beautiful rice fields beyond that. Visitors will come across the local wildlife as well; Tonle Sap is home to crocodiles, pelicans, the grey-headed fish eagle, freshwater snakes, and over 149 species of fish.
