The Royal Palace in Phnom Penh was constructed in 1866 and is often referred to as Preah Barum Reachea Veang Chaktomuk. The palace complex has multiple buildings and is used as the royal residence of the Cambodian king. Many of the buildings that visitors will see display a combination of traditional Khmer architecture along with Thai architecture and European and French design and features. Important buildings in the complex include the Khemarin Palace, Throne Hall, Moonlight Pavilion, Silver Pagoda, and Inner Court. Aspects that shouldn’t be missed include the towering spires, the stupas, and the Emerald Buddha.
