Review:
The New York Café ruin in the town of Jerome, Arizona, was purchased in the year of 1981. After the building’s purchase, work slowly began shaping the dated structure into the charming Raku Gallery visitors will find today. Opening its doors to the public for the first time in 1988, the art gallery quickly became one of the town’s premier destinations. The gallery gets its name from the Zen word of “raku,” which translates to ease, happiness, pleasure, enjoyment, and contentment. Raku features over 200 different artists from predominantly the Southwestern region of the United States. Within the 2,200-sqaure-foot gallery visitors will find eclectic collections of crafts and fine arts that include furniture, sculptures, jewelry, blown glass, ceramics, and paintings.
