The beautiful Buffalo Botanical Gardens is a green oasis nestled in the heart of South Park. The site is home to a diverse and varied range of flora from across the globe, and as you wander through the installation you will be transported around the world, viewing native plants from different regions and continents. The carefully curated exhibition is planted with attention to synergy and symbiosis, and the plants work together to provide the healthiest and most vibrant and fruitful arrangements.

The design and architecture behind the layout of the gardens, flowerbeds, greenhouses, and conservatories that make up the main complex were the work of Frederick Law Omstead, who is most famous for his work on New York Central Park. The breathtaking majesty of the design has meant that the gardens have received adequate funding and protection and are now safeguarded on the National Register of Historic Places.

Built in the 1890s, the Victorian design of the glass domes that make up the gardens are as stunning now as they were when it was first opened to the public. If you take a bird's eye view of the plan for the gardens, you will see the tranquil symmetry of this perfect space, and as you stroll through the flowers and trees, this effect is emphasized while you can enjoy the beautiful smells and sights at whichever pace you decide to set.

There are not just flowers, though. The gardens host various different exhibitions and events over the course of the year and make full use of the setting. Whether it’s yoga in the healing gardens or attending the botanical brew tasting evenings, when the park opens later and you can sample local alcoholic treats, you’ll be sure to find something to pop along to that’ll make your friends positively green with envy.

Admission and Opening Hours

Standard admission to the garden is $11, seniors aged 62 and above pay $10, and students aged 13 and above with ID pay $9. It is $6 for kids aged 3 to 12, while kids 2 and under are admitted free of charge. All members of the garden are not charged entry.
