If you want to see how powerful a community can be when it comes together with one goal in the mind, look no further than the Heyde Center for the Arts. Opened to the public in 2000, the Heyde Center for the Arts was born out of the hard work and teamwork of the Chippewa community when it rallied together to save the historic 1907 McDonell Memorial High School building from demolition. With grit, elbow grease, and a ton of help from skilled and unskilled volunteers, the Heyde Center for the Arts was born and late received the Governor’s Award for Supporting the Arts in 2006. Today, guests can come to the center to enjoy spectacular showcases of performing arts such as music, dance, theater, film, comedy, and many more.
