Review & Frequenly Asked Questions:

On a mission to protect and showcase the history of La Crosse County, the La Crosse Country Historical Society would be happy to arrange for you to tour the historic Hixon House. The Hixon House was built in 1858 by Gideon Hixon, one of the county’s pioneer settlers. The elegant Italianate home has been beautifully preserved and restored and is filled with many original period pieces which belonged to the family. A tour of this grand old dame offers an accurate insight into the life and times of the Hixon family and their peers. Tours of the house are docent led and need to be booked in advance.
