Review:
Over 188 acres, Prickett’s Fort State Park is the place to go for historical education and connecting with nature. The fort was built during European settlement to protect settlers from Native American attack. Today’s guests visit a reconstruction of what the fort was believed to look like, though there are contradicting ideas. Inside the fort are four blockhouses (in the corners), a storehouse, a meeting house, and 14 small cabins. In the park
outside of the fort are trails, picnicking areas, and an outdoor amphitheater for performances. Today’s fort also features a welcome center, which includes a research library and a gift shop.106 Overfort Lane, Fairmont, WV 26554, Phone: 304-363-3030, Map
