The Silver Water Cafe started in an old brick building next to the old ferry block. Cooking was done inside and the food served outside from an old wooden cart. Deliveries were made from a basket lowered down to customers working on their boats. This was fine for summer but in winter, the cafe moved indoors a short distance away. The clientele appreciated the warm fire and the hot soup. After five years, a multi-story building was bought and refurbished. Downstairs had the same atmosphere as before but the mezzanine remained open for late night dining. Next, the top floor was turned into a 45 seat movie theatre with armchairs, a bar and light snacks.
