If you're craving Puget Sound views, small-town charm, and easy access to Seattle, I always recommend you check out Burien, Washington. I’ve spent plenty of time in the Seattle area, and Burien is where I go when I want to unwind. Just minutes from downtown and Sea-Tac Airport, you’ll find quiet beaches, global flavors, and sunsets that stop you in your tracks. I’ve strolled the waterfront and explored the cafés—you’ll see quickly why I call it one of the area’s best-kept secrets.

Burien, WA Highlights:

  • Walk along Seahurst Park Beach: I love walking here—rocky shores, driftwood, forested trails, and those sound views you’ll want to photograph. You’ll feel a world away.
  • Browse shops and cafés in Olde Burien: I always find something new in this charming district. You can sip a coffee, pop into a gallery, or just wander like I do on slow mornings.
  • Catch live performances at Burien Actors Theatre: I’ve been to a few shows here, and you’ll be surprised by the talent packed into such an intimate, community-driven space.
  • Picnic and play at Lake Burien Park: I like bringing lunch here for a quiet escape. You’ll find green space just steps from downtown—a nice pause in your day.
  • Explore Highline Heritage Museum: I learned so much about the area’s history and diversity here. You’ll enjoy the interactive exhibits, especially if you're curious about aviation and immigrant stories.

Best Time to Visit Burien, WA

In my experience, late spring through early fall (May to September) is the ideal time to visit. You’ll enjoy the sunniest skies and the best beach days. I love coming in summer for festivals and mountain views, but you’ll also find fall quiet and colorful—perfect for fewer crowds and long walks under the changing leaves.
