Review:

Saint John’s Hospital is one of Europe’s oldest exceptionally preserved hospital buildings and currently serves as a museum. This 800-year-old piece of history served as a care center for the sick, the poor, travelers, and pilgrims. Visitors will have the chance to tour the medieval wards where monks and nuns worked to heal the people of the city. Sint-Janshospitaal features a chapel, the Diksmuide attic, the custodian’s room, an old dormitory, a pharmacy, and an herb garden. There is also a remarkable collection of archives, medical instruments, and artworks, including six paintings created by renowned artist Hans Memling.
