Review:
Vysehrad is a historic castle fort overlooking the Vlatava River in Prague, which was most likely constructed in the 10th century. Inside the castle is the Vysehrad cemetery, where many famous historic Czechs have been buried, in addition to the Basilica of St. Peter and St. Paul. Some claim that Vysehrad was the first settlement in the area that later grew into Prague, but that claim is yet to be proven or disproven. Visiting the castle provides one with magnificent views of the city as well as a look at many hidden architectural treasures, including the cemetery, the basilica, the rare Romanesque Rotunda of St. Martin, and some of the original statues that once lined the Charles Bridge.
