Verzetsmuseum, or the Dutch Resistance Museum, is situated in Amsterdam's Plantage neighborhood. The museum tells the story of the Dutch people's role in World War II and has won awards naming it the best history museum in the country. The museum's permanent exhibit recreates scenes from Amsterdam during the German occupation of The Netherlands. The story of the Holocaust is visualized as is the life of everyday people during wartime. There is a strong emphasis on the resistance of the Dutch people against the Nazis as well as various heroic acts. The museum uses photography, artifacts, wartime posters, audio recordings, and video to tell the stories of the dark time in Dutch history.
