The Janskerk, also known as the St. John’s Church, is a gorgeous old church located right on the Janskerkhof square in the heart of Utrecht. Built in a Romanesque basilica style, the church was founded by Bishop Bernold in 1040 and was used for the chapter for St. John. One of Utrecht’s five collegiate churches, it was later converted to a city library then university library when it was repossessed by the Reformed Church. Today, the church is a remarkable historical landmark to visit that comes alive on the weekends with farmer’s markets popping up all around. The church has also been used as a remarkable events place for various occasions.
