Santa Fe, New Mexico, is a hub for arts and culture in the region with a large presence of galleries, local artisans, and craft festivals. The nearby Sangre de Cristos mountains make Santa Fe a popular destination during the winter because of the proximity of ski resorts there, and the great skiing conditions in January mean that skiers and snowboarders will find the slopes to their liking. Many Native American Pueblo feast days are celebrated in January as well, making Santa Fe a great spot to engage in some local culture through festivals and traditional dances.
