Alesund, a small port town located on Norway's western coast, is a beautiful little town in a lovely setting. In 1904, nearly the entire town was burned to the ground in a horrific fire, and the rebuilding of the whole town at the same time has made Ă…lesund a unique destination simply for the art nouveau style architecture in the town. Rugged mountains, gleaming blue fjords, and a stunning Norwegian landscape draw visitors to the area, as does its proximity to the Geirangerfjord, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In town, museums, parks, architecture, and frequent festivals are sure to keep guests busy for the duration of their stay.
