Review:

Found in the Cusco Region in Peru, Machu Picchu is a stunning 15th century Inca citadel that is at the top of many travel bucket lists. Situated on a mountain ridge, archaeologists believe that it was constructed as an estate for the Incan emperor Pachacuti in the 1400s. Visitors can explore the "Lost City of the Incas" on their own or with a tour company and learn all about the structure and its history. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is considered one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and comprises almost 200 buildings in various kanchas or compounds. Visitors will be able to see archaeological treasures such as the Intihuatana, the Room of the Three Windows, and the Guardhouse, which is stunning three-sided building known in Inca architecture as the wayrona style.
