The city is famous for its annual Fringe Festival, which is the world's largest arts festival, and the Edinburgh International Festival, which brings top class theatre, opera, and dance performers from around the world. Institutions such as the National Museum of Scotland and the Scottish National Gallery are open to visitors all year long, while other historic sites that shouldn't be missed are Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, and the Canongate.
