South Jordan is located in south central Utah, about 18 miles from Salt Lake City. It lies in the Salt Lake Valley on the banks of the Jordan River, nestled between Oquirrh and Wasatch Mountains. Originally an agrarian community, South Jordan was founded by Mormon settlers in 1859. The city has 27 parks including Jordan River Parkway with trails, parks, fishing ponds and natural habitats. It also has Salt Lake County fairgrounds, an equestrian park and 67-acre Oquirrh Lake.
