DMAD Reservoir is a 1,199-acre oasis in the Sevier Desert near Delta. It was created in 1959 as a result of the impounding the lower end of the Sevier River. Its purpose is to supply water, protect aquatic habitats, and provide recreation, water for irrigation, and cooling for a number of nearby coal burning power plants. Its name comes from the four irrigation companies that collaborated in its creation – Delta, Melville, Abraham, and Deseret. The lake is 80 feet deep and most of its 6.3 miles of shoreline is owned by the Bureau of Land Management. There are a few simple campgrounds and boat launches around the lake. The most popular activities are fishing, boating, and camping. Map
