The Fort Croghan Grounds and Museum today serves as a frontier town representation where guests can visit a stage coach stop, powder house, a one-room schoolhouse, a blacksmith’s shop, and more. Fort Croghan was established in 1849 as the third fort the U.S. government established to protect settlements from Native Americans incursions. The Fort Croghan Museum is home to a large artifact collection consisting of items from Burnet County and the surrounding area. The grounds include eight different historical structures dating back to the 1850’s and offers a great spot to have a picnic lunch during a visit.
