Chacho’s is a popular Houston quick-service Mexican restaurant chain that offers seven locations, including a joint location with sports bar Chalucci’s. Chapultepec Lupita is located in Houston’s diverse and eclectic Montrose neighborhood, which has been named as one of America’s 10 best neighborhoods, and is a local institution for late-night dining. The 24-hour restaurant is located within a renovated house on Richmond Avenue and offers unique decor and a jukebox with rock, reggae, and Mexican music selections. Dot Coffee Shop has been a Houston landmark since 1967 and has become one of several regional restaurants spearheaded by the Pappas family. Glazed the Doughnut Cafe was opened in 2013 by founder Edose Ohen and has become Houston’s favorite specialty doughnut shop, offering one-of-a-kind doughnut creations and to-go breakfast options 24 hours a day at two locations. Unique yeast and cake doughnut flavors are made to order, including the Macon maple-bacon doughnut, the shop’s signature flavor. Other options include doughnuts topped with pineapple upside-down cake, Cocoa Pebbles and Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereals, and candy bars such as Reese’s peanut butter cups. House of Pies was originally opened in 1965 by Al Lapin, Jr., the franchise proprietor behind the International House of Pancakes and Orange Julius chains. The family-operated diner and bakery has been a Houston institution over the past half-century, offering homemade old-fashioned pies made from scratch without preservatives. Speciality pies are sold whole or by the slice and include classic flavors such as Texas pecan fudge, key lime, sweet potato, banana cream, and strawberry rhubarb. A variety of other dessert favorites are also sold, including lemon and coconut meringue pies, specialty cheesecakes, gourmet cakes, and homemade cookies.
