The Florence County Museum is on a mission to protect and showcase the rich cultural, historic and artistic heritage of Florence County. The museum’s collection includes a wealth of information about things unique to the area including a massive fossil of an Ancient Bald Cypress trunk, reptile material dating back to the Cretaceous period and Civil War artifacts from the Florence Stockdale prison camp. In addition to the above highlights, the museum’s permanent collection includes a wonderful art collection including works by many prominent Florence County artists. The exhibits change regularly so there is always something new to admire each time you visit.
