Review & Frequenly Asked Questions:

Lost Maples State Natural Area is a gorgeous protected natural area located along the hills and canyons on the banks of the Edwards Plateau's Sabinal River region. The designated National Natural Landmark stretches for nearly 3,000 acres throughout the Vanderpool region, located approximately an hour northwest of the city of San Antonio. It has been protected as a Natural Area by the state since 1973, designated as such rather than as a state park to protect the unique natural character of the land. Gorgeous limestone bedrock terrain areas are home to a plethora of native species, including white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, feral pigs, exotic axis deer, and mountain lions. 11 miles of hiking trails are showcased throughout the region, along with primitive and electric hookup campsites for overnight stay.
