On a nice day, the large sandy beach in Holland State Park on nearby Lake Michigan is full of locals and visitors enjoying an all too short summer. For a great view of the lake and the city, make an effort to climb the 240 steps to the top of Mount Pisgah, actually a massive sand dune. If you can, time your visit to Holland to come in the spring, when the whole town is one huge colorful island of blooming tulips. It cannot get more Dutch than that.
