Media, Pennsylvania’s roots are deep, stretching all the way back to 1681, when William Penn was named proprietor of the colony named after him. The borough was created and named county seat in 1850, and its borders have remained the same since that time. A lot of history, industry, and development have occurred in Media since then, though most of it was in the more recent 20th century. Several historic buildings still stand, as do ancient trees and quaint homesteads. Interestingly, Media is most well-known for its rich theatre culture and is home to two nationally renowned schools for the dramatic arts.
