Looking for a walkable town with charm, culture, and community spirit? Head to Media! I’ve always had a soft spot for this place. Known as “Everybody’s Hometown,” Media blends small-town heart with artsy energy and great food. I’ve spent sunny afternoons here catching live music, dining outside on State Street, and browsing locally owned shops. It’s the kind of town where you park the car and just wander—everything’s close, and everyone’s friendly. Whether you're seeing a show or sipping coffee on a sidewalk patio, Media has a big personality wrapped in a small-town feel.

When I’d Recommend You Visit

I think the best time to visit Media is from May through October. That’s when the sidewalks come alive with outdoor dining, live music, and community events. I’ve been in early fall too, and the foliage around town and in nearby parks makes September and October especially beautiful for a stroll.

How I Usually Get There

  • By Car: I often drive in via U.S. Route 1 or PA Route 252—it’s an easy hop from I-95 or I-476 and only about 30 minutes from Philly. Parking’s usually manageable, especially if you aim for early in the day.
  • By Train: When I want to skip the car, I just hop on SEPTA’s Media/Elwyn Regional Rail Line. It drops you right at Media Station, and from there it’s a short walk into the heart of downtown. Super convenient.
  • By Air: If you’re flying in, Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) is only about 20 minutes away. I’ve done the drive from the airport, and it’s quick—especially outside of rush hour.

Where I’ve Stayed (or Think You’ll Love)

  • Alpenhof Bed & Breakfast – This one’s perfect if you’re looking for something peaceful and a little rustic. I loved the gardens and the quiet setting—great for a relaxing weekend.
  • Hampton Inn & Suites Philadelphia/Media – I’ve stayed here when I wanted modern comfort close to everything. It’s clean, convenient, and has all the basics covered.
  • Courtyard by Marriott Springfield – Just a short drive from Media, this place offers upscale touches and a calm, quiet stay. I’ve recommended it to friends visiting for weddings or events nearby.

Must-Sees for First-Time Visitors

  • Downtown Media – I always tell first-timers to start here. You’ll love wandering the tree-lined streets, ducking into boutiques, grabbing coffee, and admiring the murals and public art that give the town its character.
  • Rose Tree Park – I’ve enjoyed summer concerts and winter light displays here. It’s a beautiful spot for a quiet walk or a picnic, and there’s usually something going on—from free music to family-friendly events.
