Review:

Azuka Theater is one of Philadelphia's most thought-provoking alternative theater companies, acclaimed by regional publications such as Philadelphia Weekly for its unique, cutting-edge performances. The company was originally founded in 1999 by a group of artists from Arden Theatre Company's Professional Apprentice Program. Today, it presents a full season roster of performances meant to strength the human connection across diverse populations, giving voice to stories and populations that are typically underrepresented in the theater scene. Past productions have included world premieres of plays such as Boycott Esther, Skin and Bone, and Hope Street and Other Lonely Places. Pay-what-you-can ticketing strives to eliminate the financial barriers of viewing theater performances for underprivileged community members.
