Gordon Park is located within Cleveland's East Side district on 122 acres adjacent to Lake Erie, overseen as part of the Cleveland Public Parks District. The park was originally opened to the public in 1893, named for Cleveland industrialist and philanthropist William J. Gordon, whose estate was formerly housed on the park's lands. Since 1978, the park's lakeshore areas have been incorporated into the Cleveland Lakefront State Park district, which also encompasses five other nearby beachfront recreational areas. Visitors can utilize the park's six-lane boat launch, which offers public dock space between April and November. Other park amenities include day-use picnic areas with barbecue grills and public restroom facilities.
