Named for a local school teacher from Grand Rapids, Ohio, who bequeathed 14 acres of land for the establishment of a park, Mary Jane Thurston State Park is a 591-acre area of land in Henry and Wood counties that offers a wealth of outdoor and recreational activities. Running along the banks of the Maumee River near the remains of the historic Erie and Miami Canal, the 105-acre park offers boating, stream fishing, canoeing and kayaking, picnicking, hiking, and camping. The campground has electric and non-electric campsites, restrooms with flushing toilets and hot showers, picnic tables and fire rings, and a dump station.
