The Fort Rickey Discovery Zoo in Rome, New York is home to a large variety of different species of animals from nearly every corner of the world. While many zoos in New York focus on more exotic animal species, such as giraffes, elephants, tigers, and lions, the Fort Rickey Zoo specializes in more accessible smaller animals.While getting up close to these animals is a significant part of the zoo, it’s more than a petting zoo, home to tortoises, llamas, gray wolves, lemurs, and more. In the petting zoo, however, the most well known resident may be the African Pygmy Goats.
