Review:

Lewis Howard Latimer was a self-made man who achieved amazing distinctions as an inventor without the benefit of formal education and despite all the obstacles of racial discrimination. He contributed to the invention of the telephone and light bulb, both of which massively impacted the world. The museum is dedicated to showcasing the legacy of Lewis Howard Latimer and other African American inventors who have braved the odds to improve the world. Today the museum hosts various exhibitions and offers in-house and virtual educational programs in various fields including the arts, social justice and technology. The historic building which houses the museum was constructed in the Queen Anne style in 1889.
