Brooklyn Grange Farms and Apiary is a unique community-supported agricultural program in Long Island City, stretched across 2.5 acres of urban rooftop area and distributing more than 500,000 pounds of vegetables to participating restaurants and CSAs. As the United States' leading rooftop farming business, the farms comprise the largest rooftop soil farm in the world, originally developed in 2010. An apiary is also operated by the corporation, with more than 30 individually-managed honey bee hives located on rooftops throughout the city.
