One of the most rugged areas in the state, South Mountains State Park is home to mountain streams, a waterfall, elevations of up to three thousand feet, and over forty miles of mountain biking, equestrian, and hiking trails. Near the parking area at Jacob Fork are drive-in campsites, 18 of which feature a fire circle and a picnic table. There are also two sites with RV hookups for electricity. South Mountains State Park also offers twenty-four backpacking sites across seven different locations, as well as equestrian camping. Recreation activities also include fishing, mountain biking, and horseback riding.
