The Nantahala National Forest is located in the mountains of southwestern North Carolina, easily accessible from the Blue Ridge Parkway near Asheville. The forest encompasses approximately half a million acres and offers pictures hiking trails, stunning views, and a variety of camping options. The Standing Indian Mountain, one of the park’s highest points, offers spectacular views of the Nantahala River Gorge. The pool near the Cullasaja Falls along the Cullasaja River provides a good spot for swimming as well. Camping opportunities within the Nantahala National Forest range from rustic tent sites to RV sites to glamping options with the cabins.
