Review:

The Rubin Museum of Art is a museum dedicated to displaying and preserving the art and cultural artifacts of the Himalayas, India, and neighboring countries. There is an emphasis on Tibetan art. The art was originally the private collection of Donald and Shelley Rubin from whom the museum gets its name.

In addition to the items on permanent display, the museum also hosts several national and international traveling exhibits. The museum occupies part of what was formerly the Barney's department store and takes up about 70,000 square feet. The Rubin museum includes an education center, art studio, a theater, a café, and a gift shop. Individual and group tours are available.
