Madison Square Garden, colloquially known as The Garden or in initials as MSG, is a multi-purpose indoor arena situated atop Pennsylvania Station and is used for professional basketball and ice hockey, as well as boxing, professional wrestling, circuses concerts, ice shows, and other forms of sports and entertainment. Opened in 1968, it is the is the oldest major sporting facility in the New York metropolitan area and the oldest arena in the National Hockey League.
