Liberty Park was built at the site of the World Trade Center to honor the people who lost their lives on 9-11. Located in the Westfield World Trade Center, the elevated public park is situated above the Vehicular Security Center and overlooks the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, the St. Nicholas National Shrine, and the iconic Sphere sculpture that was created with materials salvaged from the World Trade Center site. Other features in the park include a ‘living wall’ of 826 panels of wintercreeper, periwinkle, Japanese spurge, and Baltic ivy; pedestrian bridges and walkways, a small amphitheater, and a life-and-a-half scale bronze statue of a man on a horse known as America's Response Monument, commemorating the actions of U.S. Special Operations Forces in the first few weeks of the Afghanistan War.
