Washington Valley Park is a popular recreational area which lies nestled between the first and second Watchung Mountain ridges close to Bridgewater. Hiking and mountain biking are the most popular activities in the park – you have at least 8 trails to choose from, ranging from easy to moderate. There is a large reservoir on the park which offers good fishing from the shoreline. From August to November each year hundreds of bird watchers gather at the Washington Valley Hawk Watch to observe and record thousands of migrating raptors including hawks, osprey, falcons and bald eagles. When conditions are perfect it is not unusual for birders to spot up to 10,000 raptors in a single day.
