Once upon a time Millville was home to a thriving sawmill and gristmill on the Manumuskin River. The original mill was founded as far back as 1770 and formed the back-bone of a thriving iron industry which employed hundreds of workers. Today, the historic old mills are in ruins. If you are interested in exploring the ruins you can a short hike along a pleasant horse-shoe trail past a few chimneys and foundations, all that is left of the former mill-workers’ homes. Beyond the ruins you will come to a pretty lake with a beach area. Bring along a picnic and enjoy stepping back in time for an hour or two.
