One of the country’s oldest national fish hatcheries still in operation, the Nashua National Fish Hatchery was established in 1898 and operates programs to support restoration efforts of American shad, landlocked salmon, and Atlantic salmon among other species in the waters of New England. Guided tours of the hatchery are offered for free on weekdays in the morning and afternoon as hatchery staff schedules and workload allow. It's advised to call and schedule a tour in advance. The fish raised at Nashua National Fish Hatchery are used for stocking the New England area's coastal streams, rivers, lakes, and reservoirs.
