I’ve explored some amazing resorts in Mississippi that offer the perfect mix of golf, spas, waterfront views, and historic charm. I appreciated how these spots blend laid-back comfort with memorable experiences.

Whether I was pampering myself at a spa, walking tree-lined paths outside a historic inn, or playing a slow round of golf under a canopy of oaks, I felt a kind of calm I didn’t know I needed. I thought that "the staff at every place welcomed me like family." Those small touches...a warm smile, a perfectly made biscuit, a cozy robe waiting in the room made all the difference.

Monmouth Historic Inn & Gardens

Monmouth Historic Inn & Gardens

I decided to stay at the Monmouth Historic Inn & Gardens while writing about Natchez to enjoy the unique gardens. As I wandered the grounds, the air felt still and fragrant. I was thinking that "the views of the manicured lawns and fountains were straight out of a painting."

Every path invited me to stroll slowly, and I found myself pausing often just to take it all in.

I stayed in a cozy, antique-filled cottage.

My highlight? The candlelit dinner I had at 1818 Restaurant. The setting was both elegant but relaxed. I ordered the pecan-crusted catfish with creamed spinach. It was rich, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I ended with a slice of house-made bourbon pecan pie. Between the food, the setting, and the warm hospitality, it was an unforgettable experience.

Dunleith Historic Inn

Dunleith Historic Inn swept me off my feet the moment I arrived. This stunning 1856 Greek Revival mansion in Natchez, Mississippi is surrounded by 26 soaring Tuscan columns that make you feel like you’ve stepped onto the set of a Southern epic. As I walked the grounds, the wraparound colonnade framed views of moss-draped oaks and flower-lined paths. I couldn’t help but tell myself to "slow down and take it all in."

My room was the perfect mix of historic charm and modern luxury. I had a gas fireplace, plush bedding, and all the thoughtful touches that made it feel like a true escape.

One of the best parts? I didn’t need to drive anywhere. Downtown Natchez was just a short walk away. I loved being able to wander past historic churches, browse little shops, and pop into art galleries before strolling back to the quiet of the inn. I also had dinner at the onsite restaurant and pub, which served up comforting local dishes with genuine Southern hospitality.

My highlight? The soulful Southern breakfast at The Castle Restaurant & Pub, tucked inside the old carriage house. I ordered shrimp and grits with a flaky biscuit and strong coffee. The exposed brick, wrought iron, and historic touches made it feel both elegant and homey—like a secret passed down for generations.

What made me most happy? First thing in the morning, I enjoyed a classic Southern breakfast in one of the elegant dining rooms. I can still taste the buttery biscuits and sweet tea that made me feel completely at home.

Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Biloxi

Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Biloxi

After a few exciting nights in Natchez, I drove down to the coast (3 hours and 45 minutes) for a day at the beach.

Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Biloxi was the perfect mix of high-energy fun and laid-back coastal luxury, located right on the beach. From the moment I walked into the lobby (filled with music, cool lighting, and rock memorabilia!) I knew I was in for a good time. The whole place buzzed with energy, but still felt totally relaxing thanks to the Gulf views and the ocean breeze just outside.

My room was bright, modern, and super comfortable, with huge windows overlooking the water. I spent the afternoon at the outdoor pool, lounging by the edge and sipping a frozen drink from the swim-up bar. There were three hot tubs nearby too, and it all felt indulgent without being over the top. That night, I hit the casino—which had everything from table games to high-energy slots—before grabbing dinner at one of the nine on-site restaurants. I went with sushi and cocktails at the Hard Rock Café and caught some live music while I ate.

My favorite? The next morning, I booked a spa treatment (a much-needed massage), then walked right down to the beach for a great view.

My highlight? The high-energy dinner at Half Shell Oyster House right on the property. I had charbroiled oysters, a seafood-stuffed portobello, and a signature cocktail with fresh lime and mint. With live music pulsing nearby and guitars on the walls, it was indulgent, loud, and totally on brand—in the best way.

Hilton Garden Inn Jackson Downtown

Hilton Garden Inn Jackson Downtown

If you decide my beach idea and head to Jackson instead, the drive from Natchez to Jackson takes about two hours.

I actually visited Jackson on another trip when I flew there. I landed at Jackson International Airport and took a taxi to Hilton Garden Inn Jackson Downtown which instantly charmed me with its elegant 1920s architecture and vintage vibe. Housed in a beautifully restored 1923 building, it felt like a step back in time. My first thought was that "it had just the right amount of modern polish." From the moment I walked through the grand lobby near the State Capitol, I knew I’d picked the right place to stay in Jackson.

My room was bright and stylish, with chic decor that gave it both comfort and character. After a long day exploring, I soaked in the whirlpool spa and even fit in a swim in the heated indoor pool.

What delighted me the most? The location made it easy to walk to nearby restaurants and shops...so convenient! Check out my Things to Do in Jackson article for some great ideas! The mix of historic elegance and downtown convenience made this hotel feel both grounded and luxurious.

My highlight? The jazz brunch at Parlor Market, just a short walk away. I had the smoked salmon Benedict and a bloody Mary garnished with pickled okra. The space had vintage Southern charm with a modern twist—tile floors, reclaimed wood, and a menu full of surprises. It felt like the heart of downtown Jackson on a plate.
